TAKE THE HATE OUT OF THE IMMIGRATION DEBATE

Mexican Bashing Goes Bipartisan

September 3rd, 2008

Meet the congressional candidate Daily Kos, New York Bloggers call "crazy Jack Davis."

The Buffalo News reported this week on a speech given in March by Democratic candidate Jack Davis, who is running for the open seat in New York’s 26th Congressional District.  Davis rails against illegal immigration in Dobbsian terms with more than a hint of Buchanan paranoia.

Some have defended Davis as being merely an "opponent of illegal immigration," but the following excerpts from his speech make us more than a little skeptical of that.

"Our country has been invaded, occupied, and settled by ten million illegal aliens."

or this:

"In the latter part of this century or the next, Mexicans will be a majority in many of the states and could therefore take control of the state government using the democratic process.  They could then secede from the United States, and then we might have another civil war."

or how about:

"I think a double-walled fence along the Southern border is the least expensive, long-term solution to maintain the heritage of our fathers [emphasis added]."

Judge for yourself:
